Climbing Progression Series
Become the Rock Climber You've Always Dreamed of Being
Rock climbing is all about progression and developing your skills to take on big mountain objectives. On this five-day climbing trip and course to Moab, Utah, we’ll work through all of the vital skills needed to become the best climber you can be. There’s no better fast track to becoming a solid rock climber than getting fully immersed in the sport for a week. If you’re looking for a stellar climbing vacation where you can live the dirt-bag life while benefiting from the guided instruction of a Certified AMGA Rock Guide, look no further.
On the first leg of our journey, we will work on movement skills and really focus on crack climbing technique. If you’re a little rusty or looking for tips to improve your skills, we’ll review lead and top-rope belaying, rope management, and knot tying. As you start to feel good moving on the rock, you’ll notice your confidence start to increase as you have a blast on every pitch.
Next, we will learn all about traditional and bolted anchors, perfect and hone our gear placements, and practice rappelling. On our rest day, we’ll descend a slot canyon to work on rappelling skills and anchor building.
The last part of the progression series is the chance to summit a desert tower! This is an awe-inspiring experience and the perfect reward for all the hard work you’ve put in over the last few days. We will finish off the trip by practicing our lead climbing skills.
You don’t want to miss out on this trip! It's a great way to quickly improve your climbing ability, meet new climbing partners, and have a ton of fun in the Moab desert.

Climbing Progression Series
Moab is renowned for its incredible rock climbing on picturesque sandstone carved by the mighty Colorado River and is a great venue to increase your climbing confidence, movement skills, and technical know-how.
Day 1
After meeting your guides and the rest of the course participants, we will head out for a full day of climbing. We will work on movement skills on both face and crack climbs along with a review of belaying, rope management, and knots. Strong movement skills equal safety while rock climbing.
Day 2
We will lay the foundation for artificial (trad) anchors, bolted anchors, gear placement, natural anchors, and rappelling. You will then get a chance to stretch those muscles and climb while putting to use what you just learned.
Day 3
This is a rest day to recover and prepare for the last two days of the clinic. Instead of climbing today, we will descend a slot canyon with numerous obstacles and rappels.
Day 4
We will get an early start and climb a desert tower appropriate to the groups skill set. We will work on multi pitch skills with a strong emphasis on transitions.
Day 5
It's time to lead! Today, we will focus on the natural progression of lead climbing. We will cover leading on both bolts and gear and you'll have plenty of time to practice. We will end the day, and course, with a thorough debrief.
In this course, you'll have plenty of time to ask questions, practice skills, and apply them in new ways. Practice makes perfect and we guarantee there will be lots of time to hone your climbing skills under the watchful eye of an AMGA Certified Rock Guide.
Prerequisites:
Participants should be able to comfortably climb 5.9 outdoors on a top rope as well as have experience with basic climbing systems such as belaying. A strong base level of fitness is required for this course.
