Lincoln Falls, located on Hoosier Pass between Breckenridge and Alma, is one of the premiere ice climbing destinations in Colorado. It is a convenient drive from the Denver area and routinely holds some of the best early and late season ice around. Sitting at the base of the Colorado Fourteener Mount Lincoln, this ice venue is sure to take your breath away.
As winter slowly creeps over the mountains, Lincoln Falls begins to freeze up in early November. The climbing early season can be thin and scrappy, but definitely rewarding. By December, the ice is big and many different lines come into shape. There is a great mixture of moderate multi pitch ice, steep pillars, scratchy corners, beginner ice climbing flows, and full on dry tooling routes. A steep 45 minute hike from the parking area guards this spectacular ice climbing venue.
Lincoln Falls is suitable for both beginner and expert ice climbers alike. The wide variety of different routes makes this a great spot to try swinging tools for the first time, or to refine your steep ice technique. Ready to take your ice climbing to the next level? We can custom tailor an ice climbing trip to Lincoln Falls just for you!
