Description

Nestled in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains 30 minutes West of Denver, this climber-friendly state park boasts over 400 rock climbs and makes a great escape close to home. After opening to the public in 2013, Staunton State Park has seen significant climbing development and new routes are put up all the time. With single and multi-pitch sport and trad climbing, ratings from 5.0 to 5.13d, and even ice climbing – Staunton offers something for every climber.

For beginners or those looking for a welcoming introduction to climbing, The Pooka crag is a great place to start. With a close concentration of moderate sport climbs from 5.4-5.10 including several in the 5.6-5.8 range, a quick approach, and lower-off hooks on every climb, this is a highly accessible crag to learn climbing skills, or work on sport climbing techniques.

Looking to start multi pitch climbing or for sport or trad? If so the Park view dome offers a large selection of multipitch climbing in Staunton. Some of our favorites are Heads High, a 5.6 4 pitch climb on sport, or the Hey Ranger route that is a 3 pitch 5.5 route! If you are interested in other routes, reach out to our office staff for more details!
