Description

Kiener’s Route is a proud and classic mountaineering line on Longs Peak, climbing the mountain’s imposing North Face from base to summit. This route blends steep snow climbing, snow traverses, mixed alpine terrain, and exposed scrambling into a single, continuous objective.

Most ascents follow Lamb’s Slide to the iconic Broadway ledge before continuing upward through steeper snow and mixed terrain in the North Chimney and upper face. Conditions, timing, and efficiency are critical, making this route best suited for climbers with solid alpine experience, strong fitness, and confident movement on snow and rock.

More information:

  • Recommended mountaineering experience level: intermediate to advanced
  • This is a very strenuous climb. Expect to gain and lose close to 5,000 feet of elevation over the course of almost 1 miles
  • An ascent of Longs Peak normally takes approximately 15 hours
  • A basic understanding of snow and alpine climbing is highly recommended.
