Description

If you have climbed ice many times in the past, then this Steep Ice Climbing Course can help you development more efficient movement and skills for climbing long stretches of steep ice. The goal of the day is to get you feeling more confident climbing WI4 waterfall ice in a smooth and efficient style. This is your gateway to mastering the techniques to climb many of the classic ice routes worldwide.

Throughout the course, you’ll have plenty of time to warm up and shake off the rust on easier ice routes before progressing to steeper and steeper flows. Your calves will end up burning and your arms are sure to get pumped as you hone in your triangle or A-frame technique. A large emphasis of this course is placed on swinging ice tools correctly and efficiently so you can pull your hips away from the ice and utilize your feet more effectively.

Prerequisites:

Participants should have some prior ice climbing experience and a working knowledge of climbing systems such as belaying, and knots.  Previous experience taking care of yourself in cold environments is a must.
