Booking, Deposit, and Cancelation
We understand that life can happen, and trip plans change. You can find our cancelation policy below for trips, courses, and education. All requests for cancellations and date changes must be submitted in writing by email or by contacting our office at 720-598-2864. Once we receive notice that you are canceling your trip, the following apply:
Trips and Courses
A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking. Full payment is due 14 days prior to trip, and will be charged to card on file unless otherwise notified.
- For cancellations 15 days or more prior to trip, deposit will be refunded minus a $50 booking fee.
- For cancellations 14-4 days prior to trip, no refund will be given. However, you will be eligible for a reschedule of the trip.
- For cancellations 3 days or less prior to trip, no refund will be given and you will not be eligible for a reschedule.
- In the event Golden Mountain Guides has to cancel a trip due to weather, safety concerns, or events out of our control, a full refund will be given.
Disclaimer:

There are no pro-rated refunds for arriving late or leaving a trip early. We strictly adhere to our cancellation policy to protect our ability to run mountain adventures and to maintain our pricing structure.
Avalanche Education
A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking. Full payment is due 24 days prior to the course start date.
- For cancellations 60 days or more prior to course start date, deposit will be refunded minus a $250 booking fee.
- For cancellations 59-25 days prior to course start date, no refund will be given unless a waitlisted student is able to fill the space, in which case deposit will be refunded minus a $250 booking fee.
- For cancellations 24 days or less prior to course start date, no refund will be given and you will not be eligible for a reschedule.
Depending on course availability and enrollment, Golden Mountain Guides allows for students to transfer courses.
- If course transfer is requested 25 or more days prior to course start date, you will be charged a $50 non-refundable transfer fee.
- If course transfer is requested 24 days or less prior to course start date and Golden Mountain Guides can accommodate it, you will be charged a $250 non-refundable transfer fee.

SPI Course and Exam
Payment in full is required at the time of booking.
- For cancellations 22 days or more prior to course start date, payment in full will be refunded minus a $100 booking fee.
- For cancellations 21-14 days prior to course start date, no refund will be given. However, you will be eligible for a reschedule of the course.
- For cancellations 13 days or less prior to course start date, no refund will be given and you will not be eligible for a reschedule.
- In the event Golden Mountain Guides has to cancel a trip due to weather, safety concerns, or events out of our control, a full refund will be given. This course runs rain or shine.

Firearms
To ensure the safety and security of all employees, clients, land managers, and the general public, Golden Mountain Guides prohibits the possession of, or discharge of any weapons, including firearms, during company operations. This prohibition includes concealed firearms, even if the individual holds a valid concealed handgun permit. Firearms may only be stored securely in client owned vehicles in compliance with Colorado State law, but they may not be removed during operations or brought into any Federal, State, or Local facility or managed area, or Company owned property, facilities, or vehicles.
Any client found to violate this policy will be subject to immediate termination of the reserved trip without refund or rescheduling.
Drugs and Alcohol
Definitions and Policies
A “substance” includes alcohol, illegal drugs, inhalants and prescription and over-the- counter drugs. An “illegal drug” is any substance that is illegal to use, possess, sell, or transfer. “Drug paraphernalia” are any items used or intended for use in making, packaging, concealing, injecting, inhaling, or consuming illegal drugs or inhalants. A “prescription drug” is any substance prescribed for an individual by a licensed health care provider. An “inhalant” is any substance that produces mind-altering effects when inhaled.
You are considered “under the influence” if any substance: Impairs your behavior or your ability to move safely and productively or use good judgement or results in a physical or mental condition that creates a risk to your own safety, the safety of others, or company property.
All guests must follow these rules while on company premises and while participating on a trip. These rules apply any place we conduct company business during trips, courses, or meetings.
–You must keep these drugs in their original containers or bring only the necessary supply.
–You may not use, possess, or be under the influence of alcohol on company premises.
–You may not use, possess, or be under the influence of illegal drugs.
–You may not sell, buy, transfer or distribute any drugs. It is against the law to do so, and such actions will be reported to the authorities.
–You may not use, possess, sell, transfer, or distribute drug paraphernalia.
–You may not use or be under the influence of inhalants.
–You must follow these rules if you take prescription or over-the-counter drugs on the job:
–You may use a prescription drug only if a licensed health care provider prescribed it for you within the last year.
–You may use prescription or over-the-counter drugs only if they do not generally affect your ability.
–You must follow directions, including dosage limits and usage cautions.
