Fresh off your Intro to Mountaineering Course or looking to refine your alpine skills for bigger objectives? These classic alpine routes in Colorado are chosen for their shorter approaches and accessible high-alpine terrain, making them ideal for climbers stepping into real mountain environments. Objectives take approximately 8–10 hours round trip, offering a full day of movement through rock, snow, and exposed alpine terrain.

This day is built for the climber or alpinist who’s ready to explore technical alpine terrain and wants a supportive, confidence-building start. You’ll move across rock, snow, and classic Colorado high-country terrain while learning how to travel efficiently, choose your lines, and feel confident in the mountains.

  • All necessary ice climbing equipment including harnesses, helmets, mountaineering boots (Alaska Private Days excluded), crampons, ice tools, belay devices, ropes, and protection

  • Transportation. You will be responsible for your own transportation to and from a designated meeting area
