Moab, Utah is undoubtably one of the coolest places to experience rock climbing. Splitter crack climbing, powerful sport climbing, and everything in-between await. The Moab area is home to world class climbing along with dozens of spectacular summits, and miles of single pitch trad and sport climbing that will both challenge you and leave you speechless. The climbing is incredible, exposed, and nothing short of amazing. Plus, you can’t go wrong with the views!

Geologically speaking, Moab is a land full of activity. While the mighty Colorado River cut through the soft layers of sandstone, tectonic movement of the Moab Fault line fractured much of the sandstone we see today. The resulting tectonic movement pushed layers high into the sky creating the unique landscape we play on today This creates an incredible variety of climbing opportunities in Moab and the surrounding area.

Classic areas here include Wall Street and Potash Road, Kane Creek Canyon, River Road, Castle Valley, Long Canyon, and so many others. With so much varied climbing terrain that is easily accessible, it’s not uncommon to follow the sun in the morning and the shade in the afternoon. Or better yet, climb a desert tower in the morning, have lunch in town, and crag the rest of the day!

Moab is a great destination venue for climbing and it’s very easy to spend a few days here sampling the classics. We offer half day and full day climbing trips, and big tower climbs for wherever you’re at in your climbing journey.

Ancient Art

With barely enough room for one person, and panoramic views in all directions, this is truly a desert classic. Ancient Art is a varied climb featuring chimneys, face climbing, crack climbing, and an exposed move onto the diving board with nothing but air under your feet. This is one of the most spectacular summits you’ll ever stand on!

Castleton Tower

This iconic tower stands proudly over the surrounding Castle Valley and has many phenomenal routes to the top, including the classic Kor-Ingalls, North Chimney, and North Face. The climbing is steep and exposed and the views of the Colorado River are incredible. Every pitch on this tower deserves classic status. Lighthouse Tower

Situated along the mighty Colorado River, the Lighthouse Tower stands as a reminder of the powerful forces of nature. Carved from the surrounding sandstone, this tower features one of the absolute best pitches of 5.10 in the Moab area. Steep crack climbing and stemming give way to a “thank goodness” hold before pulling onto the belay ledge. Stellar climbing and a wild summit!
