Director of Guiding Operations

Joe brings his enthusiasm and passion for backcountry climbing and skiing! He has a lifetime of guided climbing and ski mountaineering objectives, including committing alpine lines and ski descents around the world. He enjoys alpine ice climbing the high peaks in Colorado on his off time and guides all of the mountain disciplines.

Joe became the 92nd guide to become fully certified by American Mountain Guide Association (AMGA), and is licensed by the International Federation of Mountain Guide Association (IFMGA), the highest level of professional guiding in the world. He is an AMGA National Instructor Team Member and teaches the alpine, rock, ice and ski programs for the AMGA. He holds 2 of the highest Professional Avalanche certifications in the US with the American Institute of Avalanche Research and Education and the American Avalanche Institute. Joe is an AIARE course leader, A3 Professional Member, and is a Professional Avalanche Instructor.

In addition to Joe’s extensive experience and certifications, in 2013 he was recognised by the AMGA as Outstanding ‘Guide of the Year’ for his exceptional dedication to the mountain craft and his clients. Joe is a guide athlete for C.A.M.P. Innovative Equipment, Rab Equipment, and Guide Ambassador for Backcountry Access.
