And just the opposite will occur if you have absolutely no idea what to do when you encounter a crack! Learn to love crack climbing and take your climbing to the next level.
If you want to venture off of the beaten path on some cool trad climbs, you’re going to need to know how to climb cracks. While face climbing is pretty awesome, cracks form constrictions or void spaces where we can place traditional climbing gear and different parts of our body. Learn and practice many different types of jams as you start down the path of learning how to climb The Bastille Crack or Castleton Tower in Moab.
The crack technique you deploy depends on the size of your hands compared to the size of the crack you’re going to climb. Some cracks might be tiny - fingertip sized seams that cut through the wall, while others are as big as your whole body! In this course, we’ll cover all crack climbing techniques from fingertips to chimneys and everything in between.
We will show you how to make your very own tape gloves, and talk about the difference between crack climbing gloves and tape gloves. Join our AMGA certified guides and instructors for a fun day out at the crag climbing cracks!
