Description

If you were to climb only one route in Eldorado Canyon, the Yellow Spur is definitely a contender for the best route in the canyon. Many climbers agree that this is “a must climb in your lifetime route” and one of the finest climbs in all of Colorado.

First climbed by Kor and Dornan in the late 1950’s (in hiking boots), this route still has a reputation as being a little spicy. 6 pitches of incredible rock climbing put you on top of Redgarden’s Tower 1 with amazing views in all directions.

The climbing on the Yellow Spur is hard, steep, and technical. The views, position, and exposure are exhilarating. The final pitch to the summit will take your breath away as you pull onto the arete with nothing but air under your feet.

This classic climb truly has it all from an aesthetic knife-blade summit, technical pin ladder, pitch two dihedral, and the most exposed belay stance in all of Eldo. High above the creek, this route stands proud and truly lives up to all the hype. Experience the Eldo Classic and climb the Yellow Spur with us!
